Service Description

- About the Master - As a creative designer and developer of shapes and textiles, Anneleen establishes her own sustainable textile & embroidery laboratory, in which she merges embroidery, jewellery and textile design from an artisanal and innovative perspective. Her laboratory has a holistic, interdisciplinary and sustainable method of working; collaborations with other craftsmen and (bio)material researchers are key to experiment with various techniques and crafts to look at the textile industry from a broader perspective and to be able to create a more sustainable approach towards our resources. The laboratory does research on how the development of new (sustainable) materials and innovative technologies interacts and clashes with traditional and ancient crafts and techniques. And how this could shape unexpected, new forms and textures for a more sustainable and precious future. Her working method is to design from the material itself; pushing and twisting the properties, limitations and possibilities by taking it out of its context. - About the Workshop - In the workshop Anneleen guides you through her research on some traditional embroidery techniques for both embellishing and repairing textiles, as well as her research on pearls made from both recycled and natural materials. Besides using some traditional embroidery techniques, we will work with yarns from invasive and locally grown plants and embroider intuitively to embrace the moment and process of crafting. By slowing down, being in touch with ourselves, each other and materials, we will write tactile stories through the textiles we create. During this workshop the needle and thread become our pen to write in a 3 dimensional language. You are welcome to take with you existing garments on which you want to embroider or apply an embroidery reparation, or use the textiles offered in the workshop to create your own embroidery artwork. - What you need - Only your curiosity for tactility and experimentation. - What it includes - All textile, yarns and embroidery materials included. You can also bring existing garments you want to repair or apply embroidery on. When – 15 January 2022 Where - Lokal, Rue des Eperonniers 18, 1000 Brussels Price - 55 Eur
