SLOW STITCHING
Non sewing knowledge required
- €55 euros€55
- Rue des Eperonniers
Service Description
Slow stitching is about making stitches by hand, consciously slowly. Step by step and stitch by stitch, participants will make a collage from fabric and thread on a panel of textile. The focus of slow stitching is not so much on the result, but on the making process and learning to trust their own creative instinct. No prior knowledge or previous sewing experience is necessary. At the beginning of the workshop, Kaat briefly explains what slow stitching entails. She discusses the material and demonstrates some techniques and stitches. Then the participants get to work themselves with fabric, ribbons, buttons, needle and thread. As much as possible, the material used will consist of upcycling and leftover materials. The purpose of the workshop is to get acquainted with slow stitching, learn some stitches and techniques and experience the slowing down and the mindful process. Participants will return home with a finished slow stitched panel measuring 15X19 cm or 17X17 cm. You can see some examples in the attachment. After the workshop, participants can continue to work with the knowledge and technique gained, for example, to decorate a tote bag, create a larger slow stitched work or decoratively repair a garment. Duration – 3 hours *All materials including an apron are provided for the course of the workshop.
